What is CBD oil?
Simply put, it’s the part of the cannabis plant that is not psychoactive meaning that it has little or no THC content. This is what makes it so controversial and even illegal in some states. There is tons of new research being done each day and the government is beginning to become lenient on regulation. Why it is even illegal in the first place is beyond me.
You can still pass a drug test if you take CBD oil.
How does it work?
“CBD interacts with the body through the endogenous cannabinoid system (ECS) or endocannabinoid system. First discovered in the late 1980’s, the endocannabinoid system regulates the body’s homeostasis, or general state of balance, impacting such functions as mood, sleep, appetite, hormone regulation, and pain and immune response. It’s clear that the endocannabinoid system is one of the most important regulatory systems in the human body, but most people do very little to support the health of this system because cannabinoids have not been part of the average diet. In addition to positively affecting the endocannabinoid system, CBD has been the focus of more than 23,000 published studies about cannabinoids in relation to various medical indications including anxiety, epilepsy, inflammation, cancer and chronic pain to name few.”
I was first introduced to CBD (cannabidiol) oil approximately 4 months ago. Since then I have taken it nearly every day and I decided to log how it has affected my mood and overall health. This is what I found.
The CBD Oil that I used:
The first bottle that I tried was the DREEM brand, and I loved it! The first couple of days were especially great which I assume is due to my body not being used to having it. Once I had started taking it for about 3-4 days I didn’t notice the change in mood and relaxation as much. It kind of just became the new standard. It still worked great as I could tell the difference from the lifetime without it taking it prior. I fell in love with it. I bought 2 more bottles instantly and I was taking it every day and playing around with the dosage until I found what worked best for me. I started by taking one eyedropper full of the 250 mg DREEM CBD Oil 2 times per day and went up to 6 eye droppers per day over time. I would fluctuate and take a different amount each day to see what the optimal amount was for me. After a little trial and error, I found that 4-5 eyedroppers per day was the perfect amount for me. I typically take one dropper in the morning when I wake up, one in the afternoon, two in the evening, and one more before bedtime.
This is just what works well for me and my body. What works well for me may not be the right amount for you as everyone is different. You will probably be best to start off with 1-2 eyedroppers of CBD at first and tinker with it until you find the right amount for you. If you decide to give it a try that is.
The Benefits for Me
I can think a bit more clearly
Coming from someone that has a mind that goes about 100 miles per minute, this stuff really does help. I don’t want to play it up like something that you can take and it’ll eliminate all of your anxieties and stress, but I can confidently say that it can take you from a 6 to a 3 most of the time. The calming effect really helps with mood, focus, and conversation. I can tell a notable improvement in these areas. Feeling clarity is one of the best feelings in the entire world, especially if you deal with an inordinate amount of stress and anxiety.
Important note: It is not an end-all solution to stress and anxiety and worry. Although it does help, I still had days where it didn’t seem to help much. To me, that was okay and expected. There are just days where stress and worry can manifest and get the best of anyone, and that is just a part of life. Overall, I can say that it helped to reduce stress and provide clarity on a fairly consistent basis.
Amazing for aches and pains
Cool fact: I have only had two instances that I have taken ibuprofen for a headache since I started taking CBD Oil. It might not sound that cool to you, but as someone that gets headaches a fair amount, it is a game changer. I would MUCH rather take an extra eye dropper of CBD Oil than a couple ibuprofen if given the choice. The reduction in the amount of ibuprofen is not just a coincidence either. I put it to the test by not taking it for two days, and on the eve of the second day, I started to get a pretty uncomfortable stress headache. I reached for the CBD Oil and took 2 eyedroppers immediately. About 10 minutes later I noticed that I didn’t have a headache anymore. It wasn’t instantaneous and it definitely wasn’t more than maybe a 3-4 on the pain scale, but there is for sure a correlation between CBD Oil and headache reduction. How cool is that?!
Great for gut health
Quite possibly the best personal benefit that I have noticed is the significant improvement in my gut health. Coming from both a personal and genetic history of digestive issues I can safely say that this stuff really does pay dividends in the reduction of those issues. I’ve noticed a reduction in the morning stomach uneasiness, and my mornings became much more pleasant. It is also very good for nausea which I did have a couple of times while the flu was going around. (I didn’t get the full-blown flu, thankfully!) It had a pretty instant relieving effect on the nauseousness, while not overwhelming, it was still uncomfortable. Bye bye nausea and hello healthy gut!
Many people that I have talked to have stated that the greatest benefit for them was the improved sleep quality. I’ve never been one to have problems sleeping, in fact, most who know me would say that I could sleep through most artillery strikes. What I did notice was a better sleep quality. I still had no problems sleeping, but I found that I could function just as well on less sleep. I’m not suggesting that you should buy some CBD oil and eliminate your sleep from 8 hours to 4. It was more like getting away with 1-2 fewer hours at most. Maybe it was that I was getting a better, a more deep sleep. Maybe I just believed that it was helping and I was fine even without it. Even though I might not be able to say it is a must-have for sleep quality, I can say that it definitely doesn’t hurt. So if you are someone who has a tougher time sleeping it might be worth looking into.
Hopefully, it helps you. I’m interested to hear how it helps each person so if you’ve experienced some notable sleep improvements, then comment below and share your experience.
Have you ever taken CBD?
Every person is different and the benefits that I enjoy might be different. I have to say that I definitely notice several positive benefits and that I won’t be cutting it out of my health routine anytime soon. The entire CBD world has quickly become a big interest and I am excited to try more and new oils in the future and continue to notice the benefits.
For those who have already tried it, what oils have you tried and did you notice any differences? I’d love to any hear your experiences and any noted benefit, or lack of in the comment section below.
