All Apex Legends Guns | Compatible Attachments, Ammo Types, and Best Guns
A complete guide to every gun in Apex Legends
Let’s get right into it, shall we…
Snipers
-
G7 Scout
The G7 Scout is a semi-automatic light sniper rifle with a standard magazine size of 10 bullets. It does the least damage in the sniper rifle class but is offset by offering the largest mag size in its class with the highest rate-of-fire. Double down on the larger mag size by equipping an extended light mag for even more bullets.
Ammo type: Light
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, extended light mag, optic, sniper stock
-
Longbow
The Longbow is a semi-automatic sniper rifle with a standard magazine size of 5 bullets. The longbow is a viable weapon option, especially when paired with the skullpiercer hop-up attachment, which increases headshot damage. It’s the second of two sniper rifles that allow you equip an extended magazine for extra bullets in those sticky situations.
Ammo type: Heavy
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, extended heavy mag, optic, sniper stock, skullpiercer hop-up
-
Triple Take
The Triple Take is a triple-barrel sniper rifle with a set magazine size of 5 bullets. The Triple Take does the most damage of any sniper rifle besides the Kraber, which can only be found in care packages. Pair it with the precision choke hop-up attachment that allows you to charge up your shots for even more added damage.
Ammo type: Energy
Compatible attachments: optic, sniper stock, precision choke hop-up
-
Kraber
The Kraber is a bolt-action 50-cal sniper rifle with a clip size of 4 bullets. Only found in supply drops. The Kraber does the most damage of any gun in its class, and of any class for that matter. 125 damage per hit, and 250 for a headshot. Its high headshot damage allows for one hit kills, which is ever so satisfying. The only caveat with the Kraber is that you only get 20 bullets, and when it’s gone it’s gone. So, you know, try not to miss. Despite only being found in supply drops, the Kraber still gets our vote for best sniper in class. Kaboom.
Ammo type: Comes pre-loaded with 20 bullets that can’t be found anywhere else on the map.
Compatible attachments: Attachments are pre-filled when equipped and can’t be altered or removed.
Shotguns
-
Mozambique
The Mozambique is a handheld shotgun with a set magazine size of just 3 bullets, which is the smallest in its class. It can do pretty decent damage up close, but not enough to make it worthwhile considering its small clip size and limited attachments. This gun is our pick for the worst shotgun in class, as well as the worst gun in Apex Legends. Avoid it like the plague.
Ammo type: Shotgun
Compatible attachments: shotgun bolt, optic
-
Eva-8 Auto
The Eva-8 Auto is a full-auto shotgun with a set magazine size of 8 bullets, which is the most in its class. It also has the highest fire rate of any shotgun and does okay damage, but this is offset by only having two attachments and no hop-up attachment slot.
Ammo type: Shotgun
Compatible attachments: shotgun bolt, optic
-
Peacekeeper
The Peacekeeper is a lever-action shotgun that packs a punch, especially when paired with the precision choke attachment which allows you to charge up the Peacekeeper for an extra powerful blast. This Peacekeeper is a close second to the Mastiff for the best shotgun in class.
Ammo type: Shotgun
Compatible attachments: shotgun bolt, optic, precision choke hop-up
-
Mastiff
The Mastiff is a pump action shotgun with a set clip size of 4 bullets. It does the most damage in the shotgun class, but can only be found in supply drops. Just like the Kraber it only comes stocked with 20 bullets of its own unique ammo. Despite being harder to obtain than the Peacekeeper, the Mastiff still wins our pick for the best shotgun in class for its sheer dominance.
Ammo type: Comes pre-loaded with 20 bullets that can’t be found anywhere else on the map.
Compatible attachments: Attachments are pre-filled when equipped and can’t be altered or removed.
Pistols
-
Wingman
The Wingman is a high powered revolver with a standard magazine size of 6 bullets. This is not your average pistol. It is actually a very viable weapon option with its high damage that can be increased by equipping the skullpiercer hop-up attachment. The Wingman wins the award for the best pistol in class with flying colors.
Ammo type: Heavy
Compatible attachments: extended heavy mag, optic, skullpiercer hop-up
-
RE-45
The RE-45 is a full-auto pistol with a standard magazine size of 15 bullets. It has the highest fire rate of any pistol by far, and the recoil isn’t terrible either. What else can we say here…for a pistol it’s pretty cool, but it’s not Wingman level cool. You’re going to end up switching it out for another weapon at first chance.
Ammo type: Light
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, extended light mag, optic
-
P2020
The P2020 is a semi-automatic pistol with a standard magazine size of 12 bullets. It is your typical standard issue pistol. Looks like one, sounds like one, feels like one. It’s a pistol…would be the central theme here. Not sure what else to say about it. Not terrible, but definitely not ideal especially later in games compared to pretty much any other gun except the Mozambique.
Ammo type: Light
Compatible attachments: extended light mag, optic
AR’s
-
Hemlock
The Hemlock is a 3 round burst assault rifle with a standard magazine size of 18 bullets. It is most effective in mid-range to longer ranged battles with its controlled burst fire. It does the most damage in the AR class, which is offset with it’s slower fire rate.
Ammo type: Heavy
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, extended heavy mag, optic, stock
-
VK-47 Flatline
The Flatline is a full-auto assault rifle with a standard magazine size of 20 bullets, which slightly edges out the other ARs for most in its class. The slightly larger mag size is offset by not having a slot for the barrel stabilizer attachment. Think of it as the Apex Legends version of the AK 47, which is almost always going to be a decent choice of weapon. Its higher recoil makes it less effective from long-range, but it definitely holds its own in up close to mid-range battles.
Ammo type: Heavy
Compatible attachments: extended heavy mag, optic, stock
-
R301 Carbine
The R301 Carbine is a full-auto assault rifle with a standard magazine size of 18 bullets. It boasts the highest fire rate coupled with the least recoil in its class, which is offset by inflicting less damage than its AR counterparts. It was a tough decision to name a best in class AR, but given the high accuracy, high fire rate, and overall feel, the R301 is our pick for best AR in class. You can’t really go wrong with any AR in Apex, it’s all personal preference.
Ammo type: Light
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, extended light mag, optic, stock
-
Havoc Rifle
The Havoc Rifle is a full-auto charged energy assault rifle with a set magazine size of 25 bullets. Much like the Devotion LMG, the Havoc Rifle takes a little bit of time to start firing but has a pretty decent fire rate once it gets going. This can be offset by equipping the turbocharger hop-up attachment which allows the weapon to charge up and start firing faster. What makes the Havoc unique is that it’s the first and only gun in Apex Legends that allows you to choose between 1 of 2 different hop-up attachments. Those being either the turbocharger (recommended) or the select fire hop-up. The select fire hop-up allows for one chargeable energy blast, sort of like the Peacekeeper does when paired with the precision choke. We find the turbocharger attachment to be a bit more effective of the two, but it’s still cool that it allows players to choose. You should definitely give them both a try at least once!
Ammo type: Energy
Compatible attachments: optic, stock, turbocharger hop-up OR select fire hop-up
SMG’s
-
R-99
The R-99 is a rapid-fire automatic SMG with a standard magazine size of 18 bullets. While doing the least damage of any SMG, it is compensated by offering the highest rate of fire while doing close to the same damage as the other weapons in its class.
Ammo type: Light
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, extended light mag, optic, stock
-
Alternator
The Alternator is a twin barrel full-auto SMG with a standard magazine size of 16 bullets, which is the smallest in its class. It’s middle of the pack when it comes to damage and fire rate. Essentially, it’s the poor mans’ version of the R-99. Not the worst weapon, but certainly not one of our top picks.
Ammo type: Light
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, extended light mag, optic, stock
-
Prowler
The Prowler is a 5-round burst SMG that offers both the highest damage in its class and the largest magazine size of 20 bullets. What sets the Prowler apart from other SMGs is the ability to add the select fire hop-up attachment that turns it from a 5 round burst to a fully automatic SMG. All attached up, this gun can be quite saucy. The Prowler gets our bid for the best SMG in class.
Ammo type: Heavy
Compatible attachments: extended heavy mag, optic, stock, select fire hop-up
LMG’s
-
Devotion
The Devotion is a full-auto energy LMG with a set magazine size of 44 bullets. While the devotion starts with more bullets than its LMG counterpart, it doesn’t have the option to equip an extended magazine. While doing slightly less damage than the Spitfire, it has a higher rate of fire which can be amplified by adding the turbocharger hop-up attachment. Fully decked out, this gun is a beast. The Devotion is our pick for the best LMG in its class. Only one question remains…are you devoted enough? (laughs at own pun)
Ammo type: Energy
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, optic, stock, turbocharger hop-up
-
Spitfire
The Spitfire is a full-auto LMG with a standard mag size of 35 bullets. It does slightly more damage per hit than the Devotion, and with the addition of an extended heavy mag, it offers more bullets as well. The extra bullets and slightly better damage still make it a great weapon option for any LMG lover, but the lack of a hop-up attachment and higher recoil puts it in second place behind the Devotion.
Ammo type: Heavy
Compatible attachments: barrel stabilizer, extended heavy mag, optic, stock
Fists of Fury
And remember, if none of the guns are spicy enough for ya, you could always just give them the hands.
